here is an article about a text by portugese choreographer Joao Fiadeiro published in mouvement.net on 06-10-05. it speaks very concretely about the cultural-political situation for performance arts in portugal, but a lot of the aspects he mentions are applicable to the european landscape.

Submitted by nachbar on Sat, 2005-09-24 19:10.

Jan Ritsema is buying an old girls convent, near Reims (FR) dating from 1830, with 80 rooms, 8-10 rehearsal spaces, theatre space, 1,2 ha walled garden, unfortunately a chapel and offices. This, what he calls a Performingsarts Forum (paf) should be a critical and productive site for the creation, research and development of theatre, dance and connected areas.

Submitted by nachbar on Tue, 2005-05-03 22:09.

sitting in an evening of ztb Berlin (contemporary dance association Berlin), talking about mode05. it just got clear to me that mode05 took place at a point in dance history after the term and practice of choreography has been exploding over the past 10 or 15 years. we all know that. now we are at a point that this practice is extremely open and difficult to define. or even moreso, we are unwilling to define it. so we are floating. and we want to float.

starting to collect terms

Submitted by nachbar on Thu, 2005-03-24 15:56.

hello everybody, please check the glossary to see which terms are missing and send me an email to nachbar@kein.org. i am starting to collect terms that will be in the glossary of mode05. if you feel like writing already some text, please, go ahead.
i think the glossary should not aim so much at end-definitions but rather offer singularity insights into a terminology that concerns dance/choreography/education.
yesterday i looked through two german glossaries i found and they work a bit like this ("Glossar der Gegenwart" by suhrkamp verlag; "Auerbach-Alphabet" by Trajekte, Zeitschrift des Zentrums für Literaturwissenschaft).
