Talking about a possible form of a notation / documentation / of what was happening at mode05:
– Including thoughts and motivations from the preparations. We still want to do a publication of the process and content of mode05.
I propose to work on it in form of a map. To me it seems to be the accurate (print)-media
- to be talking about the simultaneousness of inputs, momentums and situations, the non linearity of organization, movement and exchange within the meeting.
- to create an overview of the working method and space, a picture of trace paths towards,- within, and away from the actual meeting.
It also seems to be the perfect form to formulate the sensation of the general inadequacy of documentations.
‘mein Herr describes a map drawn on a scale of 100 miles to 100 miles: It has never been spread out yet,†said ‘mein Herr’. “Well, the farmers objected; they said it would cover the whole country and shut out the sunlight! So we use the country it self as it’s own map, and I assure it does nearly as well.†(Lewis Carroll)
If a map, it will be a “‘pictorial’ tourist map of mode05â€. It will contain developed texts and sources, connected with each other. It will contain maybe images and maybe graphs, lists of books and other influences – historical and contemporary.
Since it is the map of only a particle of an exploration, there will be blank territories, white spots, areas of no return, dead ends and if desired -secrets-.
We propose a system of links, connecting text extracts with their origins (authors, publications and so on) and or with the mode05 webpage.
Further we propose to have all the participant’s names in one list in alphabetical order somewhere on the map- to protect quota-hunters from easy success, and to maintain the idea of the common copyright and shared knowledge.
Somehow soon we should meet -via web - and exchange about content- amount- how to link- with- and to whom- and- about.
* Best regards und schöne Grüsse,
Stefan

"in 1911, cartographer and treasure hunter jack pam found a map that dated forwards from 2005. it showed a site of wild thought that very quickly caught pam's interest. trying to understand what was shown on the map, trying to compare the places on it to the ones on the maps of his collection, he soon found out that the only way to understand this map was to pick up one of the dead ends on it and draw further what came to mind when reading this future map. it became clear to him that only in continuing this process of mapping out, he would not fall into a state of waiting for 2005. jack map had found the secret of the treasure hunt: mapping is the treasure itself; there is no path to a treasure but drawing many paths becoming treasures," goes the story. i like the mapping idea. looking forwards to sunday.
