games

Submitted by eva karczag on Sun, 2005-02-20 22:03.

Games? I often use games and game structures in my classes, and have a list of cooperative games that I've found useful and fun, for getting to know each other, getting energy moving, creating a shift of mood.

A few lines on Dance Education

Submitted by Joao Da Silva on Fri, 2005-02-18 19:04.

I think that the more people enter a dialogue about dance/choreography the better.

I also think that there are never too many opportunities for young artists or artists in general to develop their craft and ideas.
A school is one of many other platforms where this can happen.

L'Ecole du MAGASIN

Submitted by ulrike on Wed, 2005-02-16 14:03.

In reference to Pirkko's text about the potential of using weblogs within education I'd like to refer to an educational model I came across during the mode05 preparations and which I think is quite interesting - not just in its structure, but also in how internet technology is used to make a process of research and knowledge production transparent and useful for other people.

LEARNING

Submitted by nachbar on Wed, 2005-02-16 12:20.

Since the beginning of the week, I have been trying out the wikis. It is great fun not only to fill them with content but moreover to find out about connecting the wiki pages among each other, creating a network of text. It seems to me that this network is already meaningful in itself, creating content... although I am not quite able to say yet in what way.

Dynamique d’Enfer

“One day I saw a mountain bike in a magazine and knew that the future didn’t just exist in sci-fi sequels on television” (Hal Foster)

“The moment when Nike launched their first Air model it was clear that we had left the dark ages we normally call modernism” (Hans Ulrich Obrist)

“In fact Photoshop is as big a revolution as central perspective, not what you can do with it, but what it does to you” (Lew Manowitch)

It seems that what we often recall as, the time of the yuppie, the era of the cell phone and global village version 1.0 coincide with a few years when the future changed. The quotes above all refer and stem from this period when the thickness of our agendas was evidence of success.

This letter is an attempt to formulate some basic ideas and motivations concerning the initiative, upcoming process and aims of mode05. It has been written by the organizers and is thought of as the starting point and initial material for a rewriting process involving everybody connected to the project.
